Phase I
March 2001 Planning: Government staff from the County and City, along with business, began discussing the need to develop an assessment of the technology "readiness" of the community. Adopting an innovative method of community technology assessment, known as the Computer Systems Policy Project (CSPP), the County and City and over seventy people from the community worked together to conduct a technology assessment.
May 2001 Connecting Kern County Steering Committee formed.  About the Steering Committee
April/May 2001 Assessment Workshop: The technology assessment is conducted. Participants include representatives from government, telecommunications, real estate, small business, education, health care, major employers and community-based organizations.
July 2001 Report: The results of the technology assessment and related information are published in the Connecting Kern County report.
